A full 20-pack of weekly rankings notes concentrates on the high-end track and field exploits of members in this week's updated 2025 Top247, but we also feature a new four-star in the class, as well as a few additional noteworthy ratings risers.

Gabe Brooks

247Sports this week updated the 2025 Top247 rankings, focusing on continued examination of the rising senior class with an emphases on basketball and track and field seasons, as well as the elite camp and select 7-on-7 circuits. NFL Draft results repeatedly highlight the importance and frequency of track and field participation among pro-bound college prospects, so in today's rankings notes, we feature a dozen elite track and field prospects in the updated Top247, as well as additional names of note in the sprinting and throws categories.

While that examination of multi-sport prowess makes for the bulk of the latest rankings notes, we also feature a few quite noteworthy ratings bumps, including a new four-star edge and a high-major bound quarterback. Be sure to check out those moves following the buffet of track and field information.

Without further adieu, 247Sports' national scouting team provides a rundown of elite Top247-oriented track and field performances from Spring 2024, with credit to Athletic.net and MileSplit for the data. Each player's Top247 ranking is denoted, as you can see, and we focus on multi-event standouts in today's feature. Of course, numerous T&F numbers not mentioned in today's feature exist in the Top247; after all, nearly half of the 247 players participated in track and field this semester, and we unfortunately don't have the room to showcase them all right here. With that said, we lead off with one of the top prospects in Louisiana, a player who boasts a layered T&F profile with excellent numbers.

No. 177 – FERZELL SHEPARD, WR

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (2)

Ferzell Shepard owns, on paper, perhaps the most impressive track and field profile in 2025 Top247 rankings. The Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville Magnet receiver owns sprint times that include a 10.65-second 100, 21.36 200, and 48.40 400. He also has long jumped an eye-opening 24 feet, ¼ inch, and triple jumped a huge 48-8.75. Shepard won Louisianaindoor and 5A outdoor triple jump championships within the past three-plus months. Our No. 6 overall prospect in Louisiana officially visits Mississippi State on June 21. Arkansas, Baylor, and Texas Tech have also offered Shepard, among several other schools. – Gabe Brooks, 247Sports national scouting analyst

No. 31 – JEROME MYLES, WR – OLE MISS COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (3)

If you're looking for the 2025 sprint king at this point of the cycle, new five-star receiver Jerome Myles is your man. The Draper (Utah)Corner Canyon burner is 1 of 2 Top247 prospects to run a nuclear 10.36-second 100-meter time – along with No. 105 overall and LSU commit Charles Ross, a linebacker, believe it or not. But Myles also owns the fastest 200-meter time in the Top247 with an electric 20.84. He won Utah 6A state championships in each event this past weekend, breaking the state's 43-year-old record of 10.47, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Myles, who soared from just inside the top 200 to top 32 five-star status, missed several games with an injury in 2023, but returned for Corner Canyon's state championship run to finish with 19 catches for nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns in five games. Those performances and his spring track numbers suggest that injury is well behind the Ole Miss pledge. – Brooks

No. 5 – DAKORIEN MOORE, WR

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (4)

Duncanville (Texas) boasts a number of high-profile football prospects who double as track stars, but none more visible than five-star receiver Dakorien Moore, No. 5 overall in the updated Top247. While Duncanville made headlines for scorching, college-level relay times – Moore ran on each of DHS' three relays that medaled in the Texas 6A championships – Moore's individual numbers impressed as well. He ran an elite 10.40 100, one of the fastest in the 2025 football class, in addition to a 21.70 200. He also eclipsed 24 feet on a wind-aided long jump and hit 23-7.5 wind-legal. Recently decommitted from LSU, Moore's recruitment looks like a three-team race, per Tom Loy, 247Sports national recruiting analyst. – Brooks

No. 15 – IOSE EPENESA, DL

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (5)

Five-star Iose Epenesa, ranked in the top 15 of the new Top247, is an elite defensive line prospect with shot put and discus prowess to match. The Edwardsville (Ill.) standout lives north of 50 feet in the shot put, including a 55-4.5 PR, and has eclipsed 170 feet in the discus several times. His April 25 discus rep of 183 feet marks the second-highest Spring 2024 throw among Top247 members – Jasper (Texas) offensive tackle Demetris Dean sits at the top with a insane 194-8. Epenesa puts that sudden power to use on the field, where his basketball experience aids his functional athleticism as well. Epenesa officially visited Penn State this past weekend and plans upcoming OVs to Missouri, Iowa, Utah, and Miami. – Brooks

No. 126 – JAMES FLANIGAN, TE – NOTRE DAME COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (6)

Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame Academy's James Flanigan, who's committed to the Irish, sits at No. 1 in Wisconsin in the Top247. Flanigan's on-field profile of a two-way playmaker at the high school level joins a strong football pedigree and outstanding track and field context. He's flirted with 180 feet in the discus several times (179-7 PR) and recently logged a 58-6.25 shot put PR. That power joins a respectable 11.44 100-meter time considering his size and position projection. All of these data markers suggest a high developmental ceiling for Flanigan. – Brooks

No. 87 – TAE HARRIS, SAF – CLEMSON COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (7)

We on the 247Sports scouting team often remind each other that "fast guys want to show how fast they are." In other words, a player's willingness to compete in track and get timed on electronic testing systems speaks to his confidence in his speed. Tae Harris must be plenty confident, and for good reason. This spring, the Cedartown (Ga.) safety and top 100 overall prospect won Georgia 4A Region 7 championships in the 100- and 200-meter events, finishing second at state with a 21.21 200. He set a 100-meter PR of 10.60 at regionals. – Brooks

No. 182 – CORTEZ SMITH, IOL

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (8)

Ranked among the top 10 interior offensive line prospects in the Top247, Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview's Cortez Smith exceeded this spring two difficult barriers in throws events: the 50-foot shot put threshold and the 160-foot discus mark. Smith nearly swept the two events at the Georgia7A championships May 11, when his 56-2 shot put won gold and his 167-4 discus earned silver. Smith will reportedly officially visit South Carolina, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Georgia in the coming weeks. He has also set a commitment date, per Dawgs247. – Brooks

No. 42 – ADONYSS CURRIE, CB

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (9)

A dynamic two-way playmaker for Lancaster (Calif.) Quartz Hill, Adonyss Currie ranks fifth nationally at cornerback and No. 3 overall in California. His track prowess fuels his on-field athleticism, which yielded almost 1,000 scrimmage yards, 10 offensive TDs, three sacks, four interceptions, one INT TD return, and one kickoff return in 2023. This spring, Currie ran multiple 10.5 100s, including a wind-aided 10.55 and a wind-legal 10.57. He also posted a couple of low 21s in the 200, highlighted by an excellent 21.07 PR in mid-March. Currie, who caught our attention at the recent Overtime OT7 Orlando event, will reportedly take June OVs to Washington, Miami, and Utah. – Brooks

No. 241 – KADE PHILLIPS, CB

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (10)

Fort Bend (Texas) Hightower's Kade Phillips moved into the Top247 in part because of his stellar spring. Phillips produced the updated Top247's best long jump of the season with a staggering 24-foot, 7 ½-inch leap. That's a full seven inches better than the next-highest wind-legal number. Phillips also showed his wheels with a blistering 21.50 200 and strong 49.74 400. Phillips officially visited Baylor in late April. He's scheduled June OVs to Texas A&M, LSU, and Texas. – Brooks

No. 204 – DAWAYNE GALLOWAY, CB

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (11)

Dawayne Galloway is another cornerback/sprinter who lives below the 11.00-second 100-meter threshold. The Columbus (Ohio) Marion-Franklin standout has gone two consecutive springs reaching the sub-10.50 neighborhood, including a 10.48 100 in early April. A couple of weeks ago, he posted his season-best 21.56 200. These come as no surprise given Galloway's sophom*ore track exploits, which included Ohio Division II silver medal finishes in both events. Galloway reportedly officially visits Purdue, Syracuse, and Penn State next month. – Brooks

No. 200 – TY HAWKINS, QB – TCU COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (12)

Not real often you see a quarterback on a track and field list, but San Antonio Johnson's Ty Hawkins is not just any quarterback. The TCU pledge makes our rundown thanks to his pair of elite leaps in the long and triple jumps. Hawkins notched a pair of Texas6A regional bronze medals in April with a 23-2 long jump and a 47-4.5 triple jump. He ran an 11.30 100 earlier in the spring for good measure. Hawkins joins the aforementioned Ferzell Shepard as the only 2025 Top247 members in Spring 2024 to eclipse 23 feet and 47 feet in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. – Brooks

No. 181 – JAMAR BEAL-GOINES, CB – TEXAS A&M COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (13)

Yes, another cornerback here, and Jamar Beal-Goines deserves the recognition. So far this spring, Beal Goines has run a wind-aided 10.43 100 and a wind-legal 10.59. He adds to those sizzling numbers a 21.41 200, as well as a sub-50.00 400 at 49.77 for good measure. The Phoenix Desert Edge corner sits atop the state of Arizona rankings following this week's 2025 Top247 update. His speed shows in his coverage ability and the threat he poses in the return game. – Brooks

SPEED AND POWER …

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (14)

We mentioned Notre Dame tight end commit James Flanigan earlier because of his monstrous shot put/discus numbers and respectable 100-meter time. In that same vein, we need to highlight Goodland (Kan.) five-star tight end Linkon Cure (No. 26 overall) and Omaha (Neb.) Westside linebacker Christian Jones (No. 201). The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Cure does not compete in throws events, but does five different individual events as a sprinter and hurdler. This spring alone, Cure posted an 11.05 100, 22.35 200, 50.91 300, and 110- and 300-meter hurdles times of 14.65 and 39.03, respectively. A player of Cure's frame rarely owns a track profile of that stature. Jones enjoyed a similarly impressive spring season. He not only ripped an 11.08 100, but he also hit 54-3.25 in the shot put. The 100/shot put combination is not common, as you can imagine, much less producing good to great numbers in both events. – Brooks

MORE SPRINTERS AND JUMPERS …

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (15)

We can't mention everyone deserving of recognition in today's feature, but we'd like to squeeze a few more names in here on the sprints front.

No. 68 – Shamari Earls, CB, Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale (South Carolina commit): one of the Top247's top long jumpers with a 23-10.75 this spring, when he also produced a 6-2 high jump, 10.80 100, and 21.87 200.

No. 9 – DJ Pickett, CB, Tampa (Fla.) Zephyrhills: the five-star cover man stacked a wind-aided 10.69 100 with a wind-legal 10.77, plus a 21.66 200 and a 21-9.5 long jump.

No. 40 – Dijon Lee, CB Mission Viejo (Calif.): one of the top jumpers in the Top247, Lee tripled 46-2 and long jumped 21-6 this spring. He also ran a 22.15 200.

No. 147 – Elijah Thomas, ATH, Checotah (Okla.) (Oklahoma commit): eclipsed the 11.00 threshold with a 10.95 100, while running a 22.07 200 and long jumping 22-10.5.

No. 107 – Trystan Haynes, CB, Oklahoma City Carl Albert (Oklahoma commit): owner of the fastest Spring 2024 400-meter time in the Top247 rankings with a track-burning 47.24-second rep. --Brooks

MORE SHOT PUT, DISCUS TITANS

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (16)

Last but certainly not least in this track and field showcase, shot put and discus standouts wrap up our spring stars. Again, this is not a comprehensive list of the remaining impressive shot/disc numbers from Top247 prospects, but 10 more names who deserve recognition here.

No. 247 – Travis Buhake, DL, Mansfield (Texas) Summit: produced the No. 1 shot put throw, a whopping 60-5.5, of anybody in the updated Top247. Also recorded a strong 149-3 discus rep.

No. 18 – Ty Haywood, OT, Denton (Texas) Ryan: produced one of the best shot put numbers in the Top247 with a throw of 58-6, one of nearly a dozen 50+ throws from February through April for the five-star OT.

No. 117 – DJ Sanders, DL, Bellville (Texas): a 57-foot shot put rep in March set the stage for a Texas 4A state-qualifying performance later in the spring.

No. 228 – Nic Moore, IOL, Dandridge (Tenn.) Jefferson County: posted a 56-8 shot put in March, one of several 50+ efforts in the past couple of months.

No. 203 – Demetris Dean, OT, Jasper (Texas): his Top247-leading 194-8 discus preceded a top four finish (177-4) at the Texas 4A championships, where Dean also finished seventh in the shot put (49-2). A 52-11 shot put rep at regionals earned his spot to state. -- Brooks

No. 167 – Jayden Woods, EDGE, Shawnee (Kan.) Mill Valley: member of the ultra-exclusive 50/170 shot/disc club thanks to spring bests of 53-3.5 and 173-5, respectively.

No. 48 – Damien Shanklin, EDGE, Indianapolis Warren Central: another 50/170 club member thanks to Spring 2024 reps of 52-1.5 and 171-1.5, respectively.

No. 24 – Solomon Thomas, IOL, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines (Florida State commit): the five-star No. 1-ranked IOL in the Top247 registered a huge 162-6 discus rep this spring.

No. 27 – Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas): grew up playing soccer, but the newly-minted five-star OT logged impressive throws power this semester with a 52-2.5 shot put and a 155-5 discus.

No. 153 – Jaylen Williams, DL, Palatine (Ill.): recorded nearly double-digit 45+ shot put reps, including a 48-8.25 PR, in addition to a 153-3 discus best. -- Brooks

New 4-star: Jayden Loftin, 2025 edge

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (17)

Somerville (N.J.) edge Jayden Loftin jumps from a high three-star 88 rating to a four-star 90 grade on 247Sports following our recent live evaluation on the Under Armour Next Tour earlier this month. Loftin -- expected to officially visit Wisconsin, Tennessee, Penn State, and Minnesota in coming weeks -- excelled in combine testing and earned a top performer spot from 247Sports National Scouting Analyst Hudson Standish, who wrote the following on Loftin's performance a few weeks ago:

"Loftin was a menace during 1-on-1s, terrorizing some of the best offensive tackles in attendance with his blend of length and athleticism. He flashes a quick first step and can utilize a diverse package of pass-rushing moves to get in the backfield. One aspect of Loftin's game that shined during the Under Armour New Jersey Regional was his reactionary athleticism, finding wins multiple times on an adjustment or second move after initially getting stopped by offensive tackles."

RATING BUMP: TRAMELL JONES JR., 2025 QB – FLORIDA STATE COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (18)

FSU quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr. turned in solid performance after solid performance on the offseason circuit, and he again impressed Thursday night in Jacksonville(Fla.) Mandarin's spring game. Jones went 4-for-6 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown in one quarter of action against a Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles School defense that featured multiple FBS prospects. The highlight was the scoring play as Jones dropped a two-ball into the corner of the end zone to five-star receiver Jaime Ffrench, who snagged the pass with one hand for six points. After getting a chance to see Jones against a live rush, we have moved his grade from a three-star 87 to the highest three-star grade of 89 in advance of next month's Elite 11 Finals. Jones might not be elite in one singular area, but he makes sound decisions and isn't limited by his arm as he can hit his marks and stay on schedule. He has also improved in almost every key statistical category since earning a starting job as a freshman. – Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting

RATING BUMP: MATT HENDERSON, 2025 TE – PENN STATE COMMIT

Weekly rankings notes: Updated Top247's elite track and field athletes, plus a new 4-star (19)

Powhatan (Va.) tight end Matt Henderson flew under the national radar until he announced a commitment to Penn State earlier this month. We loved what Henderson put on tape as a junior, but we wanted some more context on the player and we got it this past weekend at the All-22 Camp in State College, Pa. Henderson, who focused primarily on basketball throughout his youth, looked the part during positional drills and flashed soft hands as he ran a variety of routes. More importantly, the size checked out as he appeared to be over 6-foot-4 with plenty of room to tack the necessary mass. Henderson's high three-star grade of 88 moves to a highest three-star 89 and he will continue to be evaluated for a possible fourth star. – Ivins

New rating: John Schobel, 2025 edge – TCU commit

John Schobel has earned back-to-back Texas District 12-3A D-I Defensive MVP awards for Columbus High, where his uncle Matt Schobel serves as head coach. Teammates with and cousin of Oklahoma State four-star QB Adam Schobel, John debuted this week on 247Sports with a high three-star 88 rating thanks to his multi-positional competency, perceived frame potential, and impressive junior campaign. The deep football pedigree also aids John Schobel's upside. His father Aaron and uncle Matt played at TCU; the former played D-end for the Bills for nearly a decade, while the latter played tight end for two NFL teams for several years.

John Schobel, who committed midday Friday to TCU, could possibly stick at his off-ball linebacker spot, but we project him to edge given his physical upside. He displays promising reactive quickness with redirecting ability in pursuit. The valuable two-way snaps at tight end/H have shown similar quick-footedness when engaging targets, as well as block-finishing conviction and impressive functional athleticism when asked to go up and get a ball. – Brooks
